Who is CLPS?

Our Vision

During the Summer of 1998, Zachary and Deborah Henry were praying about their children and education. God led them to open a Christ-centered private school with an emphasis on science and technology.

After much research, collaboration and prayer, the concept of opening a University-Model School® fit the deeply held philosophy that parents are an essential element for student success.

Our Method of Teaching

CLPS incorporates classical education elements based on the Trivium. Curricular decisions were made based on the understanding that God gives the ability to reason, think critically, and excel in learning (Dan. 1:17).

CLPS integrates the classical approach in history, literature, grammar, and science. In addition to core classes, students can also choose from a variety of electives including Computer Science, Latin, Logic, Spanish, Athletics, Art, Ballet, Music, and Drama.

Our Objectives

First Aim

Our primary aim at CLPS is to glorify and honor God (1 Cor. 10:31, 1 Pet. 4:11).
Second Aim
Our second aim at CLPS is to train and encourage our students to become His disciples (Matt.28:18-20).

Third Aim

As a UMS, we will strive to strengthen the family (as the Bible defines it), as the first and primary social and educational unit instituted by God, through the educational ministry God has given us (Gen.2:18-25, Ex. 20:12, Matt. 19:4-6, Eph. 5:22-6:4).

Fourth Aim

In order that our students keep "increasing in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men," we aim to provide them with a high quality academic education (Luke 2:52, Prov. 1:2-7, 3:13-20, 4:1-9, 9:9, 10:14).

Fifth Aim

Inasmuch as both the home and the body of Christ share the responsibility for teaching His children, we aim to effectively and systematically integrate the home and the school in the delivery of an academic education (Eph. 4:7-16, 6:4, 1 Cor. 14:26-33, Titus 1:5).

Our Beliefs
Students:

...have been called and equipped to pursue God's good, pleasing and perfect will for their lives.

...have unique academic, social, physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.
...need security and consistency in the classroom.
...need staff members who compassionately seek to understand and listen to them.
...need assessment to cultivate gifts, strengthen weaknesses, and inform teachers of students' progress.
  ...thrive when challenged.
...need a clearly defined plan for completing a course of study.
...should receive prompt feedback from teachers regarding grades.
Parents:
...and teachers cooperate to discover God's purpose for the student.
...should participate in all aspects of student life.
  ...lead their students spiritually.
...motivate and encourage their children to realize their full potential.
...should be regularly informed of grades, assignments, and attendance.

Teachers:

  ...are an invaluable asset.
...need administrative support and constructive feedback.
...function best with a variety of resources.
...should be required to pursue professional development.
...should incorporate various strategies to effectively teach students.
...and administrators should model positive attitudes and spiritual maturity.
...support and advise parents as they direct their students' education.
...must be readily available to assist parents as needed.
...should take the initiative to contact parents when difficult situations arise.
Education:
...that prepares students for life must be both rigorous and inspiring.
...is enhanced by the use of modern technology.
...is enhanced by extracurricular activities which further train young minds and hearts.
  Educational goals are essential.

CLPS Scripture

“So make every effort to apply the benefits of these promises to your life. Then your faith will produce a life of moral excellence.

Bullet A life of moral excellence leads to knowing God better.
Bullet Knowing God leads to self-control.
Bullet Self-control leads to patient endurance, and patient endurance leads to godliness.
Bullet Godliness leads to love for other Christians, and finally you will grow to have genuine love for everyone.
The more you grow like this, the more you will become productive and useful in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.” (NLV)

Additional Student Involvement

In addition to academic classes, CLPS students take part in extra-curricular activities.

Students have participated in the National Latin Exam, creative writing and poetry contests, the Star-Telegram Spelling Bee, Jump Rope for Heart, the Science Olympiad and numerous community service oriented projects.
